Alaindair, a new charismatic star for all equine fans in country. He is a fantastic foal of new freshmen sire, Multidiminensional. Usha stud farms have every reason to party throughout a week to have such a stallion and a foal which will be remembered for many years, for his Derby winning run at Mahalakshmi Race Course.

Being the significant and highest stake trophy in Indian Racing, Mumbai Derby has been one of the huge bounty, which all the trainers, jockeys and owners want to be recognized with.

A pack of 15 runners from all over India participated in the derby race. Being unbeaten in the Mumbai race track, Murioi was considered as the favorite to win the cup.

Isn’t she special was the one to lead all the runners, where Srinath on top of Alaindair settled on inside of the railings. Alaindair, who cantered along the rails all the way, he was directed to outside and at the seizing moment, jockey Y S Srinath made his path clear and started riding aggressively. With cadenced directions and proper use of whalebone, Srinath made the gelding to be a big bounty hunter.

In the final 400mts Murioi was loosened up from the hands of C D Hayes, It seemed like Murioi was heading for the post too earlier. Srinath had been correct and his decision of acting foxy in this game proved to be conclusive.

Alaindair not only won comfortably, but also set a new course record by clocking the fastest time ever on the turf – 2:28:05 bettering wonder filly Jacqueline’s timings. Y S Srinath also broke the streak of foreign jockeys winning the Indian derby from past seven years.

Alaindair has promoted trainer Altamash Ahmed into the big league. Alaindair has won Bangalore colts, the kingfisher derby Bangalore 2013 and now the McDowell signature Indian derby, the highest honor in Indian racing.

Alaindair’s owners Dr Nevil R Devalaliwalla, Miss Ameeta Mehra and Mr Gaurav Sethi proudly received the Golden “Man on Horse” trophy, which valued  Rs 150,000/- presented by the United Spirits Limited along with the winner’s stakes almost 2 crore.
It gave the taste of Mumbai derby for the first time to all the crew linked with Alaindair. Jockey Y S Srinath, got his first Mumbai derby Success after waiting a long time.

Trainer Altamash Ahmed was pleased to join in the elite group of trainers who have won Indian Derby.

Let’s hope to see few more turf records go down from the new champ Alaindair…
